Rayner of Edinburg, PA Charles S. Smith of New Castle, PA Leland Michael Yeany of Brookville, PA CLARENCE R. “Buzz” SNYDER, JR., 33°, MSA Clarence R. Snyder, Jr., was
born in Cowansville, PA on October 14, 1919. He attended
Kittanning High School. He is a Retired Heavy Equipment Operator,
and worked as a Foreman for C.H. Snyder & Company in Kittanning, PA
and Sanderson & Porter in Adrian, PA. He married Jeannette
May Leard in 1940, together they had two daughters. Clarence is
and active member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cowansville.
“Buzz’s” Masonic record is impressive and started in Kittanning East Brady Lodge No. 244 when he was initiated and raised in 1959. He served as Junior Warden in 1965 and advanced through the chairs serving as Worshipful Master in 1967, 1973, and again seven years later in 1980. During that seven years he also served his Lodge as Treasurer in 1975 and 1976. “Buzz” has conferred over 100 Master Mason Degrees! He is a life member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite where he petitioned the Valley of New Castle in 1961. He served as Sovereign Prince in 1985 for the New Castle Council of Princes of Jerusalem. He also worked as a cast member since in the 4th and 29th degrees. Clarence was awarded the Meritorious Service Award in 1981. He was coroneted a 33rd degree in Chicago, IL, on September 29, 1992. Very active in other Masonic Bodies, he is a Life Member of the Syria Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S., Pittsburgh, PA, Past President of the Deputy Unit, Armstrong Fellowship Club, and Armstrong Arys Caravan No. 22. He is also a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon Baker Trail Forrest No. 180. He is a member of Orient Royal Arch Chapter No. 247 and Kittanning Council No. 52. And a member of the Royal Order of Scotland. Clarence, in true Masonic fashion, served his church and community as well as the Masonic Fraternity. He is a life member and Past President of Sugercreek Volunteer Fire Department where he joined in 1952. Past President of Armstrong County Fireman’s Association and Western, PA. Past President of the East Brady Area School Board. Clarence was also a member of the Boy Scouts and served on the Scout Committee for 18 years. It is for this record of service that this Reunion of the Valley of New Castle is dedicated in his honor.
